What do you feel when you look at your family pictures?

If your pictures carry zero emotional impact, then you are missing something.

There is huge value in seeing well put-together family members through the ages smiling at you from your walls. It’s wonderful to have a visual history of the physical changes and growth of yourself and your children. I like those pictures – the ones where everyone is looking at the camera and smiling. I bet your parents and in-laws like those pictures, too.

But your family pictures could be so much more.

Your pictures should capture the personality of your family members.

What makes your family special?

What does the best version of your family look like?

How do you want to capture this moment of your family’s story?

You don’t need to have the answer to these questions right now.

Tara and I are both a part of the same early childhood PTA. When I first heard she was a photographer, I got excited. I Google stalked her and found photos that she took of families. What really stood out to me was the authentic way she captured every photo. That got me really, really excited. I clearly remember the first time we got together with my family and took photos. There was no awkward posing. Everything was natural and I didn’t feel the need to think about positions or angles. The results were phenomenal. So much emotion and heart was captured and I was honestly shocked they came out so good. I mean, we were operating with a two year old, guys. Tara is now our family photographer, she’s shot us for Christmas, new births, you name it, she can do it! We love her!
